Men's Club

The Canal Walk Men’s Club welcomes you to our community. We are one of the premier clubs in the community that provides a venue for having fun, socializing and promoting a neighborly atmosphere.

The Club is involved in activities and fund-raising that benefit our own community as well as our neighbors outside of Canal Walk who are in need. Membership is open to all male residents of Canal Walk. We cordially invite you to join the over 200 Club members and support our various activities and events. We promise you our friendship, a sense of belonging and active involvement through many projects and events.

WE ARE A VERY ACTIVE CLUB

We meet the second Monday of every month. After the business meeting, programs feature speakers who cover cultural, social, educational, sports, environmental and other topics that are of particular interest to our members, e.g. “Maximizing Medicare,” Beerfest and Wind-Tasking, “The Power Game: Golf & Politics,” History of the D&C Canal and Franklin Township Landmarks, etc. Refreshments follow each meeting.

We hold parties! Our most popular are our Annual Picnic in July and our Holiday Party in December.

Every month, we organize dinners attended by the ROMEOs (Ravenous Old Men Eating Out) at a variety of local restaurants.

We have fun! We have a very active golf program. Outings are organized for the camaraderie, enjoyment and competition that the sport provides. Prizes are awarded to winning foursomes in all levels of play. There is an annual Ryder Cup type event against a neighboring community called “The Somerset Walkers Cup” as well as a Ryder Cup within the community between the “Pinstriper” and the “Over the Hill Gang” teams. A list of active golfers is available so Canal Walk residents can contact and organize their own casual groups.

We play softball. Our team competes in the Franklin Township’s “over 50” senior league with neighboring communities.

We sponsor the AARP Driver Safety program that is available to all Canal Walk residents.

We perform community services, the most notable of which is the year-round collection of food for the Franklin Township Food Bank and the Summer & Holiday food drives. Our yearly collections total over 5,000 pounds of food and about $ 2,500 in cash, thanks to the generosity of the entire Canal Walk community.

We fund purchases that benefit all of Canal Walk, such as a defibrillator, a large movie screen for the Clubhouse and park benches for Canal Walk Boulevard.

We make donations to a number of organizations and activities including the Franklin Township Food Bank, East Millstone Rescue Squad, Millstone Valley Fire Dept., Elizabeth Ave. Volunteer Fire Dept., and Operation Shoebox.

We started a community project called “Save the Trees” to install wire mesh on trees in the common areas of Canal Walk to prevent damage caused by deer. Over the years, more than 900 trees have been protected.

We recycle compact fluorescent bulbs to help preserve the environment.

Contact John Tarantino (732-584-6105) to become a member. We look forward to having you join the Canal Walk Men’s Club. Once again, Welcome to Canal Walk
