Sunday, March 8, 2015 - Polymer Clay Class

 

Join us for a free class to make a four leaf clover out of
polymer clay. Just buy two packages of green clay,
and jewelry findings (bails, chain, earring supplies, or pin
backing which can be purchased at Walmart or Michael’s).
I will then instruct you on conditioning, forming the clay,
attaching the findings and baking the clay. Children welcome.
Come out and try your hand at making polymer clay jewelry.

Learn to play Tai Chi to improve your balance, gain energy, exercise with little effort and no perspiring, and clear your mind.

This ancient form of Chinese meditation in motion takes about five minutes to perform once you learn the 38 postures.

We will meet on Fridays in the Arts & Crafts Room from 3:30 pm - 4:15 pm.

Saturday, March 14, 2015 - Vince Giordano and the Night Hawks

Grammy-winner Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks have played in New York nightclubs, appeared in films: The Cotton Club, The Aviator, Finding Forrester, Revolutionary Road, and recorded for HBOs Boardwalk Empire,  This 11 piece orchestra will bring us an outstanding evening of Ragtime and Dixieland music.  Titles such as  I Ain’t Got Nobody, Darktown Strutters Ball and Baby Won’t You Please Come Home are among their favorites.

Vince Giordano has single-handedly kept alive an amazing genre of American music from the 20's and the 30's and continues to spread the joy and pathos of an era that shaped our nation.  They have performed in concerts at the Town Hall, Jazz At Lincoln Center and the Newport Jazz Festival, among other well-known venues.

Recording projects include soundtracks for HBO’s Grey Gardens and Todd Haynes’ HBO miniseries Mildred Pierce. The Nighthawks are also seen and heard in the USA Network series Royal Pains and in the PBS series Michael Feinstein’s American Songbook.  Vince Giordano and Wynton Marsalis performed 12 shows at Dizzy’s Club Cola-Cola in Jazz at Lincoln Center playing the music of Louis Armstrong.

Wednesday, March 18, 2015 - Celtic Women - NJPAC

This enchanting musical experience features Celtic Woman performing a treasure chest of traditional Irish standards, classical favorites and contemporary pop songs in an unforgettable signature style.

The 10th Anniversary World Tour features four sublimely gifted Irish women -- three angelic vocalists and a dazzling Celtic violinist -- along with a full band, The Anotas Choir, bagpipers, Irish dancers with bewitching choreography, all under the direction of Emmy-nominated music producer David Downes. This new production is the only stage collaboration between these two giants of the American musical theater.

The first 2015 Somerset County paper shredding will at the Somerset County Public Works, 410 Roycefield Road, Hillsborough, NJ 08844, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or until the trucks are full.

Operation Secure Shred events are free of charge for Somerset County residents. Pre-registration is not required. However materials cannot be accepted from businesses.The first shredding date in Franklin Township is not until September 5th.

Saturday, April 25, 2015 - Swing Into Spring

The Great American Songbook (Gershwin, Hart, Sondheim, Hammerstein, etc.) will be on the bill when Warren Vaché brings his trio here for an evening of great music  He puts his heart and soul into his performances. You will hear favorites such as Autumn Leaves, Bye Bye Blackbird, Body and Soul, Take the A Train, How Deep is the Ocean, I Got Rhythm, Lover Come Back to Me, and many more that will have you swaying in your seats. 

Internationally known Warren Vaché, has been described as "lyrical," and  "exciting," with his delightful way of engaging his audience.  He has performed at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, throughout the US and Europe.  Warren has performed with such greats as Rosemary Clooney, Benny Goodman, and Gerry Mulligan, among others.

He joins Australian-born Nicki Parrott, who plays the bass and is a sultry vocalist.  Nicki has appeared on the Broadway stage in such shows as: You're a Good Man Charlie Brown, Summer of '42, Jekyll and Hyde, and  Avenue Q.  Tomoko Ono, an accomplished pianist who has performed at such venues as Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, and The Blue Note, will complete this trio of outstanding professionals.

When Warren Vaché picks up his cornet, the walls will reverberate. Don't miss it!

More than four decades since CSN first harmonized in Laurel Canyon, and played its first-ever concert as a trio at the legendary Woodstock festival, its members continue a creative partnership that is one of the most influential and enduring in music. David Crosby, Stephen Stills, and Graham Nash have each been inducted into the 

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame two times—with Crosby, Stills & Nash, and a second time with The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and The Hollies, respectively. They are also in the Songwriter’s Hall of
Fame, honored both for CSN as a group, and as individual solo artists.

Thursday, May 28, 2015 - Ever After - Paper Mill Playhouse - May 28th

Canal Walk Notices

Amwell Road Closed at D&R Canal Until March 9th

Amwell Road (County Route 514) will be closed between Market Street and Millstone Boro for emergency bridge repair at the request of NJDOT until March 9th.

The township is working with NJDOT and Somerset County to minimize traffic impacts as much as possible.

The bridge, positioned between Market Street and Millstone borough, will be shut down immediately due to damage from oversized trucks.

Delays should be expected and alternate routes should be sought.
